5.2 Professional Ethics

Information Ethics is a very important topic to teach not only to students, but to teachers and staff as well. As the school librarian, we are held accountable for the use of copyrights and for copyright infringement at the school. The best way to ensure that teachers know about professional ethics is to teach them. By continuing to teach different forms of professional ethics as the school year goes on, staff becomes more aware of what they can look out for and teach the students. My artifact for this item is a presentation as well as a letter (element 2(2) for the school faulty and staff on professional information ethics.

After teaching the teachers, I would let them know that they could bring classes of students in to the library for a lesson on information ethics, where students would play a Jeapardy style game on information ethics after watching the video from the previous tab. Through this, the teacher and librarian can assess students' learning and can bring students back for more instruction on ethics and digital citizenship.
